Members and employees of EQ2 sugar mill were summoned by the Management Unit and Implementation of Public Law (Ugedep), in order to establish the legal aspects regarding the payment of profits for the period between 2000 and 2011.

“That meeting should leave an answer on when and how much they will pay the workers,” said Cristobal Buendia, attorney for the employees.

The meeting is scheduled to take place this morning at the offices of the state Ugedep in Guayaquil.

Last August 14 a peaceful strike was being prepared, but a Working inspector of Canar authorized the strike. However, the next day was revoked by authority of the Ministry of Labour Relations (MRL).
