FARC announces ceasefire

Due to the meetings between representatives of the Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the armed group announced a unilateral ceasefire for two months.

The statement was pointed out that the ceasefire will work until January 20, according to the report of the United States news agency CNN. The announcement was given this Monday after the peace negotiations in La Habana, Cuba started.

Ivan Marquez read the declaration, after his arrival to the Conventions Palace in La Habana, where the negotiations between FARC and the Colombian government started.

However, the Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos has not made any comments regarding such announcement.
