Final closure of suspended universities
Posted On 03 Jun 2013
The process of closing part of the universities that were suspended over a year ago will culminate this month, and it will include the Amazon Polytechnic School (Espea) and the Universities of Tecnica de San Antonio de Machala, Servio Montero Ludeña, Interamericana and Javeriana.
Prior to closing, the institutions must leave several important issues soveld. Jose Maria Lalama, Espea administrator must liquidate all of the 700 people who worked at the institution, and also settle debts with suppliers, which amount to $ 1.5 million. Lalama expects he will reach agreements to pay suppliers with Espea properties.
“I have very little left, Espea properties will go to the hands of the colleges, universities and municipalities,” said Lalama.
