Finance Ministry states they must cut the budget to 800 million dollars

Fausto Herrera, the Ecuadorian Finance Minister, announced today that the State General Budget should be cut to 800 million dollars this year.

“This is the budget cut that will be established, for 800 million dollars. We have done an initial adjustment for 400 millions dollars in

current and investment expenses. I’ve had call from other Ministries because I have started the adjustments”.

“We have made cuts in activities we can stop doing, like trips abroad, travel expenses, advertisement, among others”. But he also highlighted that they will not cut salaries, goods, and services for schools and hospitals. (I)
