Posted On 09 Sep 2011
The remains of Lee Tropical Depression caused flooding that claimed two lives yesterday on the East Coast, thousands of people were evacuated from the area.
New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, received warnings of impending floods as the river flows from these states were already affected by the rains of Irene Hurricane 10 days ago.
In northeastern Pennsylvania a mandatory evacuation of more than 100,000 residents of an area along the Susquehanna River was declared yesterday. Places like Binghamton, in upstate New York, also received evacuation orders.
“The flood warning indicates that flooding is imminent. If you are in the warning area move to higher ground immediately,” warned the National Weather Service.
