French Presidential Elections 2012: Sarkozy Acknowledged Hollande’s Victory
Nicolas Sarkozy has recognized the victory of François Hollande in the presidential election this Sunday.
In a speech nearly an hour in advance (planned for 21.30 GTM) the outgoing president said he has already spoken to the socialist to wish him well and he has admitted responsibility. Sarkozy, hailed by his people, has not just confirmed his departure from politics, but says: “Right now I am about to become a French among the French” (…) Another time has begun and in this new era I will remain one of you, you can count on me to defend our ideas and convictions, though my place may not be the same.”
Hollande is scheduled to address in Tulle and then head to Paris where the Socialists are already celebrating the victory of their candidate. (FL)
