Fugitive from La Roca is recaptured in Bogota
Colombian police recaptured Gilberto Pineiros, who is part of the group of 18 inmates who escaped on February 11 from the maximum security prison of La Roca located in Guayaquil.
The fugitive was arrested at a food restaurant on 26th Street South in downtown Bogota and immediately they contacted the Ecuadorian police to initiate the extradition process through the Court of Justice of Colombia.
With the recent arrest of Pineiros there are now 14 recaptured prisoners, out of the 18 who escaped. On May 26, in an operation developed by members of the Intervention and Rescue Group (GIR) in Manta, they recaptured brothers Jose Adolfo and Ronald Javier Macias.
The recapture has a reward system for those who give information leading to the escapees, as announced by Interior Minister Jose Serrano, after the escape.
