Glas Viejo case is suspended until the arrest of the accused
The temporal Judge of the Criminal Court, Franklin Ortiz Ordonez, delivered the judgment against Jorge Heriberto Glas Viejo. “It confirms the detention issued against the defendant. According to the provisions of Article 233 of the Penal Code, suspending the initial phase of the trial against the defendant Jorge Heriberto Glas Viejo, until he’s detained or surrenders voluntarily.”
The document was released two days after hearing of opinion supporting the judgment and appeal, on Tuesday March 12. The judge reiterated the charge of the raped minor, carried out by the prosecutor Mirian Moncayo.
Ortiz also announced the order for trial and ordered to proceed “to seize, and detain monetary accounts, banking, stocks and shares which the accused may have, which is ordered to officiate at the Superintendency of Banks and insurance, the Superintendency of Companies, and the Land Registry of Guayaquil.”
Jorge Glas Viejo, father of the recently elected vice president Jorge Glas, remains at large, it is speculated that he could be in Buenos Aires (Argentina), where he had gone after being in Brazil.
