Guayaquil is full with celebrations over its anniversary

Works, parades, solemn meetings, fairs, art festivals and neighborhood parties are the main events taking place today through Sunday in tribute to Guayaquil which celebrates its foundation and pays homage to its patron saint Santiago.
Government works made since July 2012 total $ 300 million. Among those works are the new Zofragua hospital in southern Guasmo, and Monte Sinai hospital, in the northwest, the first stage of the Samanes park, the Guayaquil-Santay footbridge, the Guayaquil-Chongon road, the inaugurated replica schools Simon Bolivar, Aguirre Abad and 28 de Mayo, health centers of Good Living, house plans, among others.
For its part, the municipality delivered urban regeneration works and paving of roads in Los Vergeles, Febres Cordero parish; Casuarina market in the north, and Santa Teresita and Enrique Grau markets in the suburb. Other works such as parks, water playgrounds, water fountains, house plans, construction of fire stations, museums and provision of books and computers to schools.
Today there will be two formal sessions, one headed by the president Rafael Correa, and one by the mayor, Jaime Nebot. Both sessions will be held on this afternoon on homage to the 478 years of founding process of the main port.
Today’s morning was full of allegories in civic parades at the center of the city. The Navy will make its show in honor of the city. At night there will be a music festival and fireworks. In addition, the Port Authority of Guayaquil authorized yesterday the signing of the contract for the maintenance dredging of the access channel to the seaport of Guayaquil.

Artisanal vessels from the Navy, the Fire Department, the Coast Guard, among others, delighted hundreds of citizens that observed the event in the Guayas River.
