Guayaquil Municipality proposes to dredge the entire channel to the port in 11 m

Port of Guayaquil
The Municipality of Guayaquil yesterday announced a new proposal for the dredging of the access channel to the port of Guayaquil. This time was referred to the president, Rafael Correa.
In the letter, the entity agrees to perform all channel dredging in two parts. First, from the sea buoy to buoy 13 and the second from the buoy 13 to the buoy 80. Thus the process of access to a depth of 11 meters (m) at low tide would be complete, this includes the rocky area known as Los Goles.
To do this the City insists that the Port Authority of Guayaquil. (APG) comply in advance with the dredged to a depth of 9.60 meters across the channel, including Los Goles.
According to Mayor Jaime Nebot, the jobs have already hired the dredge Service Navy for $ 47, 60 million and will commence as soon the first deposit is made.
According to the proposal of the Municipality, when the APG finish the work and deliver the dredging to 9.60 meters (13-buoy buoy 80) along with hiring an independent authorship for “technical testing and environmental compliance of the contract,” the City contracted studies and get the financing to hire and execute the dredging to 11 meters deep for the second half of the project.
