Ecuadornews:
Some emails leaked by the Factores de Poder website, of Venezuelan journalist Patricia Poleo, would reveal the alleged exchange of emails among officials of various state institutions.
President of the Council of the Judiciary (CJ) Gustavo Jalkh is also mentioned in the emails, who assured he knows the profile of who would be behind this leakage, that according to him, would aim to discredit the Judicial Function.
“The hacking of accounts, the theft of emails is a criminal act, so it lacks legal value (…). It seems to be part of the hacking of accounts of the Presidency, and there is a judicial process in progress to find those responsible,” he explained.
About an email that is part of the leak and apparently says that Jalkh informs Correa that he has dismissed a judge for granting a writ of habeas corpus in favor of Alvaro Noboa, the president of the CJ did not deny the existence of the emails but clarified he acted within the scope of his powers.
Judge Yvonne Hernández accepted the appeal filed by Noboa and dropped the prohibition order to leave the country that weighed against him for alleged tax evasion. That decision cost the former magistrate her position in 2013. (I)
