Illegal Inmigrants in Spain

The Spanish Health Ministry annulled, last Saturday, the health card of 910,000 patients who do not pay taxes, because they do not contribute to the Spanish state.

The legislation affects more than 150,000 undocumented immigrants who, until last Saturday, could be medically attended only by getting registered in Spain.

Organizations in favor of the rights of immigrants and refugees are watching how these people are treated since today, with emphasis on the chronically ill, or the ill with severe infections.

Spokesmen of those organizations warned, on declarations to EFE, that are going to denounce every possible case of medical neglect before the Strasbourg Court. (MZ)
