H1N1 Flu reaches the Ecuadorian Coast

The sixth victim of the dangerous H1N1 influenza virus in Ecuador, was a 23 year old youth from Tarqui Parish, located in the Manta canton. The announcement was made today by Health Minister Carina Vance.
Vance sent to the Manta port 57 ambulances for the preventive plan for medical facilities in the country. Moreover, the Secretary of State also revealed that to date there have been a total of 91 people, confirmed, affected by the deadly influenza.
While Carmina Pinargote, health coordinator of zone 4, indicated that the 23-year-old died last week and received attention on three hospitals of the country’s health network, as was the Manta hospital, the IESS hospital, and the Solca Hospital, where he finally died.
Pinargote revealed that so far there are four cases in Manabi which are being analyzed prior to confirming if it corresponds to the H1N1 virus. The three previous and fatal cases registered, were in the center of the Highlands.
