The Foreign Ministry of Ecuador published this March 12 the Canada 2024 Academic Guide, for Ecuadorians interested in studying in that country.
This guide details the educational possibilities in Canada. In addition, it details information about the scholarships that Ecuadorians can apply for, the forms of financing, even the way of life in that country.

What is the first step to study in Canada?
The Embassy gives some recommendations for those who wish to study in Canada. These are the steps to follow to get started:
- Find programs and degrees in your academic area of interest, which can be found online and also within this guide.
- Investigate each of them to find out which ones are closest to your expectations.
- It takes into account the size and location of the university, cost of living in the city, number of students per class, research interests of faculty, and the academic curriculum of the program.
- Make a list of the universities of your choice and contact them with any questions you may have.
- Be clear about how you will finance your studies, and what scholarships you can apply directly to the universities or others detailed in the guide.
- Sort the list of universities and requirements according to your degree of interest and priority.
How to finance studies in Canada?
The guide details four alternatives to pay for studies:
- Own Funds: Own savings and any financial aid that the student receives from his or her family
- Educational Credits: Educational credits granted by banks or cooperatives in Ecuador.
- Scholarships: Financial aid granted by an institution to students and professionals for academic excellence, physical skills or socioeconomic situation
- Other grants: In Canada, grants are offered such as “Awards” (awards for academic excellence), “Grants” (subsidies awarded to carry out studies or research) and “Bursaries” (financial need scholarships for students in special circumstances). .

To study in Canada there are four types of scholarships:
Caldo-Senescyt Scholarships : Currently, the agreement for this scholarship with Ecuador is in the process of renewal. It allows you to study at some of the best research universities in that country. (Universities of Alberta, Laval, Dalhousie, and Ottawa).

Offered by universities : These scholarships are those offered by each university for international students. Some are aimed exclusively at international students, and others for Canadian citizens.
