New York authorities ordered the evacuation of more than 375,000 inhabitants of the Great Apple, along with the closing of schools on the lower areas of the city due to the threat of hurricane Sandy. The arrival of this natural phenomenon has set a high alert in many states.
The mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, said that “the citizens that do not evacuate those areas, not only put their lives at risk, but the lives of the rescue service members”.
President Barack Obama informed that this is “a serious and large storm” and asked the population that take “the threatvery seriously.” Hurricane Sandy moves with strong winds of 120 kilometres per hour and its expected to reach New Jersey tonight, among other nearby states.
