According Human Rights Watch there is evidence that Syrian intelligence agencies systematically use torture and ill treatment to prisoners and the likes. This action constitutes a crime against humanity, activists hope that this will serve as a basis for future prosecutions.
This sensible information was given by Syrian detainees and defectors, who according to Human Rights Watch has identified the locations and agencies responsible, as well as the torture methods used. The report includes maps, location of detention facilities, video interviews with former detainees and sketches of torture techniques describe by people who experienced it.
Meanwhile the President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad stated that he regrets that his soldiers shot down a Turkish jet last month, but insisted they thought the plane was from Israel.
