Posted On 25 Oct 2011
The technological company IBM informed today that Samuel J. Palmisano, 60, will resign as its CEO by the end of the year and will be replaced by longtime company executive Virginia Rometty, 54.
In 2002 Palmisano was in charge of the company, during this time he transformed the enterprise into a supercomputing and analytics mega-machine. Thanks to this action IBM’s revenues have more than quadrupled in the 10 years he was at the helm.
However after Palmisano steps down, he will remain as chairman of the board when Rometty takes the charge as CEO on January 01 of 2012. Rometty is the current IBM’s senior vice president for sales, marketing and strategy. (AV)
