In 2012 the Arctic Lost an Ice Layer Similar to the Size of India

The Arctic is melting
The ice layer of the Arctic has shrunken this year to size never seen before due to an alarming accelerated melting, which causes the loss of ice surface similar to the size of India. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) gave this information.
While the surface of the North Pole lost 11,83 million of square kilometers have melted between March and September of this year. According to WMO the surface of the Arctic reduced on last 16 September, this observations were made by satellite.
One of the consequences of the thaw of Arctic, according with Michel Jarraud, general secretary of WMO, is that the ice created will be weaker and eager to future thaws. An alarming consequence is the increase of the sea level, “could be a one of the causes of the extreme could in Europe and the rest of Asia in the beginning of this year.”
