In Ecuador there is an 85% decrease in covid-19 cases

Ecuador continues to aim for economic reactivation, which is why the 9/100 Vaccination Plan carried out by the national government was one of its best allies with which they managed to inoculate more than 9 million people in 100 days and thus reduce the cases of covid -19 at the national level, therefore the reduction in mortality and morbidity was also significantly reduced. Hospitals no longer had their ICU beds saturated and fewer and fewer patients were arriving with the virus.

Confirmed covid-19 cases had a notable decrease when comparing epidemiological week 16 (May 2021) in which the highest peak of 12,758 cases was recorded, as opposed to week 34 (last week of August 2021), where a total of 1,872 cases can be seen. That is, there is a reduction of around 85%, with a change in the incidence rate from 14.35 cases to 10.69 per 100,000 inhabitants.

With regard to the new variants of covid-19, so far 265 cases of the Alpha variant have been identified; 327 to Gamma; while 181 new cases of the Delta variant have been added, giving a total of 450 only of this variant, nationwide. The Ministry of Public Health continues to work on the implementation of epidemiological surveillance to detect new possible cases and reinforce immunization strategies for the population that has not yet received the doses of the vaccine.
