Injury Leaves Ayovi Out of Copa America

Ecuador is down with another player for Copa America in Argentina. According to the doctor of team, Patricio Maldonado, the striker Jaime Ayovi will not be able to heal from his rib injury. Last Wednesday Ayovi was hurt during a soccer practice, now he has a broken sixth rib cartilage, if Ayovi keeps exposing himself he could damage his lung with a major fracture.

Yesterday the medical crew and the trainer of the Ecuadorian team met in La Casa de la Seleccion, there they decided that the striker of the Mexican team Pachuca will not recover in time to play in the tournament of July 1. The medical results will be sent to the Ayovi so he can recover in Mexico, the doctors expect that the Ecuadorian player can recover in three weeks.

The sub 20 player of Ecuador, Edson Montaño would be replacing Ayovi. This is the second loss of the Ecuadorian team after Geovanny Nazareno from Barcelona was replaced by Luis Saritama. (AV)
