Interpol offered its support to Ecuador in its fight against terrorism
This Tuesday, January 16, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, Gabriela Sommerfeld, met with the Secretary General of Interpol, Jürgen Stock. At the meeting, Stock offered his unconditional support to President Daniel Noboa in his objective of freeing the country from transnational organized crime, terrorism and other threats.

The meeting took place during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where the Interpol official confirmed an upcoming visit to Ecuador. At that event, the Chancellor strengthened bilateral ties with several countries and received support in the fight against transnational organized crime and terrorism.
Before attending this forum, the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud. At the meeting they addressed topics regarding possible areas of investment in sectors such as: tourism, agribusiness, mining, among others.
In bilateral meetings with representatives of some countries, the Secretary of State received support so that Ecuador can soon restore peace and security.
During the forum, in the panel called “The economics of gender parity,” the Chancellor assured that closing the gender gap could add an astonishing $28 trillion to global GDP.
Latin America alone could gain $2.6 trillion, and Ecuador could see an increase of $45.8 billion in its Gross Domestic Product. “It is not just about justice, it is also about promoting economic development that generates stability.”
In other activities, the Chancellor, together with the delegation made up of the Minister of the Environment and the Minister of Production and Foreign Trade, participated in the panel on the impact and effectiveness of the resources mobilized for the Amazon.
In this sense, the Minister of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition, Sade Fritschi, will carry out a broad work agenda within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, in order to strengthen environmental management and socialize the strategies that the country is carrying out regarding to climate governance.
At the meeting, which will last until January 19, 2024, the countries’ strategies and commitments for climate, nature and energy will be addressed, among other topics.
