Ecuadornews:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador and the Ministry of Employment and Social Policy of Italy signed a memorandum of cooperation in Rome on July 26 to ensure the pensions of Ecuadorians living in the European country once they leave.
Ecuador’s ambassador to Italy Juan Holguín Flores and Italian Employment Minister Giuliano Poletti signed the memorandum at the Italian ministry’s headquarters, which also serves to disseminate knowledge on social security policies.
Holguín Flores explained that one of the most prominent points of the agreement is related to the concern of many Ecuadorians living in Italy on the possibility of losing their contributions to Social Security in that country once they return to Ecuador.
“This agreement states that they do not lose these right. On the contrary, there is a follow-up to these pensions so that they are not lost once they meet the Italian legal requirements,” he said (I).
