Jorge Glas rejects slanders against him

Posted On 08 Mar 2017
The current Vice President and candidate for re-election, Jorge Glas, in an interview conducted by Luisa Delgadillo for the television channel RTS, denied the statements about irregularities in his management and announced that this would be his last political campaign. “After this, I will retire from politics and retake my engineering career,” he said.

Glas received the reporter in his apartment in Quito, and for an hour he defended himself against the assertions against him; In particular, those stated by Guillermo Lasso and Andrés Páez, who hold him responsible for cases of corruption in strategic sectors (Petroecuador and Odebrecht, for example).
He explained that when he arrived at the Government in 2007, his estate was $ 90 thousand and now it is of about $ 205 thousand.
His salary, he said, is $ 6,000 and his wife, Cinthia Díaz, who works in a private company earns $ 4,000. He said he does not have “a screw” abroad and that he bought a department in Esmeraldas with a loan of $ 25 thousand, granted to his wife by Banco Guayaquil.
He indicated that the balance of the family accounts (one in the Banco del Pacifico and four in Banco Guayaquil) is $ 8,092.
The candidate took advantage of that space to take photos of his wife and his children. Even the two kids, aged 14 and 8, defended their father.
