Journalists call for the compliance regulations for the frequencies contest

Posted On 19 Jan 2017

Accompanied by relatives and political figures who have been interviewed on their radio stations, Oquendo and Rosero went to the Council for Regulation of Communication (Cordicom) yesterday to deliver a plea, in which they demand the compliance of Section 107 of the Communication Law.
This institution is responsible for the last phase of the competition, after rating the contents of the communications projects, and if it is the case, radio stations or TV channels will be scored with an additional 20% for experience and investment to the radio.
According to Oquendo, the Arcotel scored his proposal with 113.5 points; And scored another contestant who wants the same frequency (91.7 FM in Quito) for a community radio with 114 points. “The competition suffers inconsistencies and many pitfalls. How is it possible that a private radio station is compelled to compete with a community project, knowing that this project will have 15 points of advantage?” he said.

Rosero lamented that the contest “has studded that 20% and has generated a favorable regulation to community sectors, that advocate the strategic plan of a government,” no member of the Cordicom received them.
