La Clementina case: Alvaro Noboa calls for the appearance of the former and current IRS Director, Rafael Correa and Gustavo Jalkh before justice

Posted On 13 Sep 2017

Ecuadornews:

Former presidential hopeful Alvaro Noboa asked State Attorney General Carlos Baca to call former IRS Director Carlos Marx Carrasco, current IRS Director Leonardo Orlando, the zonal director 8 of Guayas, Juan Miguel Avilés, the former President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, and the head of the Judicial Council, Gustavo Jalkh, for the La Clementina case. Noboa claims for justice after leakage of the conversations between Jalkh and Correa on this issue.

The leaks of alleged emails in which Gustavo Jalkh informed former president Rafael Correa about the removal of the judge who granted the habeas corpus to Noboa for the La Clementina case, came to light days ago.

The video is attributed to the “Factors of power” website of the Venezuelan journalist Patricia Poleo.

“Gustavo Jalkh informs Rafael Correa, who has dismissed a judge for giving rise to a Habeas Corpus to Alvaro Noboa,” says the audio extract referring to La Clementina case.

Noboa said: “The IRS was used, in the opinion of many, as a tool of political persecution.”

“I also want to tell IRS officials or any authority that wants to shut me up by inventing new cases or link me to others, to prevent me from protesting, that they will not succeed,” he said. (I)
