La Cofradía de la Perla, a group that seeks to achieve a more prosperous future for Ecuador.
La Cofradía de la Perla, an initiative born approximately 15 years ago, arises from the joint vision of Gustavo Noboa Bejarano, Former President of the Republic of Ecuador, and Jaime Franco, who currently leads this civic-business organization. In the words of Jaime Franco, Director of La Cofradia (Brotherhood), this group stands as a space to give a voice to civil society and business, seeking to enrich the social and economic fabric of the country.
“We consider that society is deteriorating, and it is crucial to promote ethical actions and ideas through a think tank, to contribute to the daily life of our country,” explains Franco. The essence of this initiative lies in the need for leaders committed to development, generating innovation and proposals that positively impact future generations.
A more prosperous and ethical future
The vision of La Cofradía de la Perla focuses on strengthening ethical values, civility and patriotism in Ecuadorian society. “We become disruptive by addressing these issues, but by doing so, we see other entrepreneurs and actors joining the conversation,” adds Franco. The organization has become a platform that unites people with a similar mentality, inside and outside Ecuador, with the aim of promoting a more prosperous and ethical future in Ecuador.
The fight against corruption is one of the fundamental pillars of this brotherhood. With more than 300 businessmen participating in its events, the Brotherhood has constantly advocated for zero tolerance towards this scourge that has historically impacted the country. These events are held every 45 days in Ecuador and also have international scope, with events held in the United States and Costa Rica.
The expansion of this group
Jaime Franco highlights the constant growth of the organization, which now has more than 1,500 contacts from Peru to New Jersey (USA), with representatives committed to building a more prosperous Ecuador. “This is not just my merit, but also a concept well developed by Dr. Gustavo Noboa”, he says, recognizing the basis and vision that drives this noble cause.
With events planned in collaboration with Peruvian and Ecuadorian figures in Lima (Peru), La Cofradía de la Perla continues its firm march towards strengthening a society based on ethical values, highlighting the importance of a collective commitment for the well-being of Ecuadorian society.
About the current state of Ecuador
La Cofradía de la Perla’s vision of the current state of Ecuador, both in social and economic terms, offers a critical perspective and a call to action towards the strengthening and progress of the country. According to Jaime Franco, Director of the Brotherhood, the business sector has been the pillar that has sustained development in the different regions of Ecuador despite the lack of government support.
“We have had governments that have not supported this vision or projected a clear future for the country in recent years”, says Franco. The business sector, in his opinion, has faced difficulties such as energy problems, particularly blackouts, which reflect a lack of vision and responsibility on the part of government leaders throughout history.
In this context, the executive emphasizes the relevance of the business sector for the economic and social development of Ecuador. “The entrepreneur is someone who risks, goes into debt, suffers, but he has a vision that uses all available resources to make it a reality”, he explains. He highlights the fundamental role of companies in generating employment.
The legacy of Gustavo Noboa
Regarding the legacy of Former President Gustavo Noboa Bejarano, a key figure in the contemporary history of Ecuador, Franco highlights his philosophy focused on family and economic stability. “Family comes first, above all. This must be God first and family first in all our actions”, he emphasizes. He recognizes Noboa’s work in the successful implementation of dollarization, a milestone that provided economic stability to the country and has been fundamental in facing economic crises.
La Cofradía de la Perla, under the direction of Jaime Franco, represents a call to action to strengthen values, support local business and seek a more prosperous future for Ecuador, based on economic stability and the promotion of a shared vision that involves the entire society.
