Lasso proposes a structural re-engineering of the state to overcome the crisis
The leader of the Creo movement, Guillermo Lasso, said that the State must save at least 5 000 million, not with more taxes or the elimination of subsidies, but with less taxes and less spending. He also proposes to stop wasting those 1200 million dollars to level the ground in El Aromo, Manabi, where there will never be a Pacific Refinery with the current economic pace of Ecuador.
“Today a new economic crisis is experienced as a result of the lack of foresight of the Government that thought that oil prices would be forever high, at levels of $100 or more.”
Lasso´s formula would be: to strengthen dollarization; attract private capital and new investments; to generate employment; and to create wealth.
To achieve that goal, Lasso proposed subjecting the state to a process of structural reengineering, less spending and more efficiency. “The government must show signs of austerity, but it seems that this year continues to live as if oil was at $ 100.”
Finally, Lasso left a task to the president so he explains during the weekly address the reason for the punishment of the Oriente oil prices against the West Texas International (WTI), which is the reference price in the international market, because while in April oil was sold with a prize of 90 cents, and in July, when we needed more dollars, he sold it with a penalty of $ 9.80, approximately.
