Latin America mourns death of Monica Spear
On Monday night, the actress and former miss Venezuela, Monica Spear (29) was killed in a highway in Carabobo State, Venezuela, with her husband, Irish Henry Thomas Berry, 39. The actress daughter, age 5, was injured in one of her legs.
According to local press reports, her vehicle had damaged on the road. When they were expecting the mechanical assistance, a group of strangers approached to steal, and when they resisted, the couple was shot. The antisocials injured the child, who is under police protection.
After the tragic death, last Monday, the president of this country, Nicolas Maduro, he requested that the dead of the actress should not be use to “isite hatred”, after the guild of artists have called a protest for today. For its part, the opposition has claimed that the country is experiencing a wave of violence in emergency.
Spear was Miss Venezuela in 2004 and reached the fourth place in the 2005 Miss Universe. She participated in TV productions like El Desprecio (her first soap opera,) “Mi prima Ciela”, “Calle Luna, Calle Sol”, “La mujer perfecta”, “Que el cielo me explique”, and “Pasión prohibida” broadcast by Telemundo.
The police preemptively arrested five people, several of them under 18, suspected of acting in the assault.
