Latin America Triumphs at Cannes

Latin America left a great mark of triumph on the Cannes Film Festival with awards to Chile, Argentina and Mexico.
Mexican Carlos Reygadas was the best director, author of the most controversial film of the event, “Post Tenebras Lux“.
Mexico claimed another major award for “After Lucy“, from the young director Michel Franco.
Also “No“, from the Chilean Pablo Larrain, hit at Cannes, winning the International Confederation of Art and Rehearsal Cinema prize at the Directors’ Fortnight.
And “Savages“, from the argentinian Alejandro Fadel, won the prize awarded by the Association of Independent Motion Picture (ACID for its spanish acronym) and the Central Fund of Social Activities (CCAS for its spanish acronym).
Colombia, with “The Sirga” by William Vega, at the Director’s Fortnight, and “The Beach” by Juan Andres Arango.
The impact of Latin America at the Cannes Film Festival assures a great future in worldwide cinema. (MZ)
