‘Leaks’ in the management of the State

The work was born wrong. The Financial Platform, built in the government of former President Rafael Correa by the Chinese company CAMC, continues to present construction faults that bother its occupants. There are broken tiles and glass, loose electrical cables, incomplete power connections, water leaks, debris, leaks and stenches on several floors.

The anomalies attract attention because the building has only 21 months of operation.

Where is the problem? NL Arquitectos designed the work located in the north of Quito so that all economic entities of the State operate in the same place. The company initially accompanied CAMC for construction. However, recognizes the architect Francisco Naranjo said accompaniment was interrupted. After his departure, he said, changes were made to the materials. The audit, said Naranjo, let technical errors pass.

To construction failures are added arbitrariness. The original design of the platform – which cost 208 million dollars – did not include the construction of a food court or the allocation of spaces for supermarkets. The authorities allowed those adjustments.

EXPRESO made a tour to verify the faults and consulted the Works Recruitment Service (Secob) and the Embassy of China in Ecuador in this regard. Until the closing of this edition there was no response. (I)
