Lectures and operations against micro trafficking
Children and young people have been victims of microtrafficking, despite the fact that the police has conducted 88 operations, including those that would have disbanded seven organizations micro traffickers so far this 2015.
In Santa Elena the police this year has withdrawn 392,902 grams of drugs, mostly cocaine and, of the 88 cases, at least 60 were opened by search warrants, the remaining are due to flagrancy.
Parallel to the operations, authorities organize lectures and prevention campaigns with the participation of teachers and parents.
Francia Cevallos, Zonal delegate of the National Council of Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (Comsep for its Spanish acronym) in Santa Elena, explains they have designed the so-called priority circuits, which are the schools that are in a risk area and where complaints have have been received or cases of drug use have been detected.
