Ecuadornews:

A faction of the opposition announced yesterday the beginning of a political trial against the president of the Judicial Council Gustavo Jalkh for alleged emails between him and former president Rafael Correa, and denunciations of irregularities in the dismissal of judges.
The Unit for Change bloc, formed by the CREO, SUMA and Podemos parties, and the National Integration Block (BIN) expect to submit documentary and testimonial evidence until next Wednesday and surpass the 35 signatures required by the  Legislative Council of Administration (CAL).
Esteban Bernal (CREO Party) stated that the interference of the executive in justice was an “open secret” and now the evidence is clear, and they have decided to start a political trial against Jalkh for the non-fulfillment of his functions.
The lawmakers will submit the files of the processes of dismissal of more than 90 judges in 2013, under the figure of inexcusable error, the former judges consider a tool of political persecution, of interference in the Judicial Function and control of justice by the Judicial Council. (I)
