Lenin Moreno dismisses directors of Traffic after tragic accident in Pifo

The President of the Republic of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, has ordered the separation of the Traffic Police Director and the Director of the Traffic Commission of Ecuador (CTE), after the accident in the Pifo-Pallacta road that left at least 24 dead and 22 injured.

“Having detected serious errors in the control of entry and transit of the accident-ridden bus in the country, I have arranged the separation of the Traffic Police Director involved, the Director of the @CTEcuador, and the entire chain of command that did not exercise due control, “Moreno reported.

The accident occurred on the road that connects Quito with the Papallacta area in the early hours of the morning, when a passenger bus, with Colombian license plates, overturned in the Palugo sector.

This provision of Moreno is also known after the Ministry of Transportation of Colombia, said that the bus that crashed on the Ecuadorian road had no authorization “to do international transit.”

President Moreno has also said that he has instructed the Minister of Public Works “to install photo-dealers throughout the national territory.” (I)
