Libyans Visit Gadhafi’s Corpse to “be Sure” of his Death
Libyans want to make sure that their “enemy” is dead and that is why hundreds of men and women, from Misrata and other regions, thronged to see the corpse of the former leader Muammar Gadhafi, who was captured and maybe killed on Thursday .
Already on Friday, after prayers, thousands marched in what the Libyans known as the “Tunisian market” of Misrata, a place where all kind of products used to be sale in peace time.
There, amid the smell of rotting flesh (“from chicken carcasses that decompose in a dump,” a guard), is the sinister cold room where it has been installed the body of the former leader.
Curious people come from all areas of Misrata, but also to Tripoli, Zliten (west), and so on.
Some representatives of the new authorities were also allowed to see it there. The number two in the National Transitional Council (CNT), Mahmoud Jibril saw the corpse on Friday. This Saturday the head of the military council of Tripoli, Abdelhakim Belhadj is expected to visit the place. (LO)
