Light drizzles in the coast do not relent water shortages in fields
Posted On 06 Jan 2017

The first drizzles have begun in part of the Ecuadorian littoral, but they still do not reach the levels that some agricultural villages expect, to start their winter sowing.
In villages of the north of Manabi like El Carmen, Flavio Alfaro and Chone the first intense rains were recorded last Friday; However, no more rains of the same magnitude have been reported since then.
Johan Loor, coordinator of the zone 4 of the Secretariat of Risk Management (SGR), does not rule out that there are drizzles at focal points in the following days.
But the emergence of rainfall in the Manabi north contrasts with what is evident in the south of the province. The emergency state has been declared in the Olmedo county due to the water deficit.
