With the exception of Uruguay who could not defeat Paraguay and tied the match 1-1, the other games left as winners the locals: Colombia 5 Bolivia 0, Venezuela 0 Argentina 3, Peru 1 Chile 0. Ecuador had a free day and will play next Tuesday, at 16h30, in the Atahualpa stadium, to face Paraguay in Quito.
The Colombian national team played against Bolivia in Barranquilla who were inferior the whole 90 minutes. The five goals of the Colombians were scored by: Macnelly Torres, Carlos Valdez, Teofilo Gutierrez, Pablo Armero and Radamel Falcao. With this victory they locate themselves in second place in the scoreboard and on Tuesday, in the twelfth day, they’ll visit Venezuela.
Meanwhile, Uruguay could not beat Paraguay, with a result of 1-1, although the two teams are in urgent need of points. The tie complicates both teams to qualify into the World Cup. The match, played in Montevideo had some rough moments for Paraguay. It was rather locked and full of foals, which prevented a dangerous offensive of the charrúas. At the 81st minute Luis Suarez scored for the hosts, with the hope to win, however, just four minutes later, Edgar Benitez took advantage of a mistake and tied the match. Uruguay faces Chile the upcoming Tuesday in Santiago.
Argentina, defeated Venezuela 3-0 and consolidated its leadership in the qualifying stage. During the first 10 minutes there was pressure on the Argentinean players, thereafter, they were clearly dominating the match in all its aspects. On two occasions Gonzalo Higuain, at minutes 28 and 50, along with the ‘best player of the world’ Lionel Messi with a penalty kick, at minute 45, scored for Argentina. Venezuela, which had shown a better performance and even was subject of praise, yesterday it was not even the shadow of what was revealed and this defeat dropped them to the fourth rank.
The last match of the day was staged by Peru and Chile, with the victory for the locals, who, in the 87th minute through Jefferson Farfan scored the only goal of the game, which marked the debut of coach Jorge Sampaoli in the red team.
