Posted On 13 Mar 2017

Lourdes Tiban, of the Pachakutik political party, has been appointed as representative of indigenous peoples by the United Nations, she reported through her Twitter account.
Tiban, who was a presidential hopeful representing the Pachakutik party, also mentioned the current candidate for the presidency, Lenin Moreno, who also worked for the UN. “Unlike Lenin, I will do it for free and from Cotopaxi,” she wrote.
In 2013, Moreno was appointed United Nations envoy for disability and accessibility issues. In 2016, his diplomatic career received a great media coverage when it was reported that the Ecuadorian state had paid him more than one million dollars to fulfill his functions.
