Lugo’s Destitution Captures All the Attention in Mercosur

Fernando Lugo attends Mercosur
The summit of Mercosur that started today in the province of Mendoza, Argentina, would discuss the institutional situation of Paraguay. After the destitution of Fernando Lugo because of the parliaments decision last Friday. His successor Federico Franco was not invited to the summit.
In tomorrow’s encounter the Union of Southamerican Nations (Unasur) will be present in the summit to analyze the destitution of Lugo. Unasur was scheduled to hold an event in Peru in another date, however the attendance date of the summit was changed.
Yesterday Lugo reiterated that “there was a rupture in the Paraguayan democratic process, there was an irrational political trial without enough arguments to reach a decision.” (AV)
