During 2017, $ 4,131,247 were seized in agricultural products, in the operations carried out in the northern and southern borders, which seek to combat contraband and defend national production.
According to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), among the main products, 6,790 liters of milk were confiscated, the price of which is estimated at $ 18,803; the seizures in rice represented an amount of $ 936,482.
The seizures in parts of cattle amounted to $ 147,370; in pigs and derivatives represented the sum of $ 127,970; in eggs, $ 28,740; and in birds in general, $ 13,716.
To have a more rigorous control, the National Government together with 20 public institutions, on January 31 presented in Machala the National Plan against Contraband and Customs Fraud, which seeks to combat contraband and defend the national producer. (I)
