Maria Fernanda Espinosa
Today during a ceremony held in the Yellow Room of the Presidential Palace at 12:00, the current Minister of Ecuadorian Heritage and former Regional Director of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Maria Fernanda Espinosa, will assume the Ministry of Defense.
“President (Rafael Correa) asked me to accompany him on the defense portfolio,” Espinosa said in a press conference.
Espinosa also stressed out the prestige of the armed forces in the country and stated that the priority of that body is “to ensure national security, public safety and the guarantee of fundamental human rights.”
Belen Moncayo, current deputy minister will be in charge of the Ministry of Heritage. (MZ)
