Mayor Yunda announces a plan to resurface the city and extend the peak and plate for the duration of the works
Ecuadornews:

The mayor of Quito, Jorge Yunda, informed today, Monday, May 20, 2019, that among his priorities is to undertake the resurfacing of the capital, a plan that will last between six and seven months, for which he asked the citizens to sacrifice ” a little”.
In a radio interview with Noti Mundo, the burgomaster pointed out – without specifying the date of the start of the works, the sites and the amount of the work – that during that time of repaving the peak and plate will last all day.
“From now on I tell the people of Quito that six, seven months of this resurfacing stage will be possible, we may have to ask the citizens to sacrifice a little. Just for that time of resurfacing, keep the peak and plate throughout the day. ”
According to the mayor, one of the reasons for adopting the measure to prolong the peak and plate is because the streets will be with machinery. “He goes to work day and night, weekends and holidays, not only the day, possibly he will work more at night, more holidays and more over the weekend,” he said.
“The city is going to be repaving itself and only for that lapse of a few months we are going to ask the citizens to keep the peak and plaque throughout the day to help mobility. But I believe that after this total repaving of the capital city we will have the possibility to move more efficiently, “said the mayor of Quito.
When asked about a possible privatization of the garbage collection service, Yunda responded that “privatizing is not the word, we must optimize it, we want to reach that moment in which the citizenry becomes aware, and for this technology is required, to have a collection fleet.
Privatizing services is not my point of view, but to reach a public-private partnership, a concession where the Municipality does not cease to be the owner of the service. (I)
