Memorandum between the US and Ecuador has 169 objectives to strengthen security

Defense Minister Luis Lara explained what the memorandum of understanding between Ecuador and the United States consists of. This Wednesday, September 13, 2023, Lara pointed out that no economic allocations are contemplated by the agreement.

Minister Luis Lara referred to the agreement between the US and Ecuador.

Lara pointed out that the exchange of information, strengthening of capacities, training, and the delivery of equipment and materials is contemplated. This will be developed within the framework of compliance with the Comprehensive Strategy for Security and Peace.

Defense indicated that air, land and river means will be implemented in the Armed Forces to complement military operations. This also provides support to other State entities.

The Memorandum was signed on July 19, in Washington. It has 169 objectives that must be met by 2030. “Each one is aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces. and they have their own budget,” indicated the Minister of Defense.
