Microsoft acquires Nokia’s mobile division from Friday
This Friday, April 25th, Microsoft will finally acquire the mobile division of the Finnish company Nokia, ending an era in the telecommunications market, after the European Commission and other regulatory agencies have approved this transaction, which was announced in September of last year.
`We are pleased to share that we have completed the necessary steps to complete the acquisition by Microsoft of the Nokia devices and services business. The transaction will be completed on Friday, when we will officially welcome them as part of the Microsoft family´, indicated Brad Smith, general counsel at Microsoft legal affairs, in the company blog.
This negotiation will allow Microsoft to develop its mobile technology division and expects that the millions of new users could access the Microsoft platform through the Windows Phones.
