Military high command is concerned about provisions of the regime
The high command of the Armed Forces expressed their concern about a bill that aims to encourage the separation of the military and their possible transfer to other security agencies.
The general Leonardo Barreiro, head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, shared yesterday his concerns with a message to the citizens through the institution channel on YouTube and Twitter (@ EjercitoECU).
During the release he was accompanied by the heads of the Navy, Vice Admiral Luis Jaramillo; from the Land Forces, Major General Jorge Pena, and from the Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE), Lieutenant General Enrique Velasco.
“The high command of the Armed Forces is extremely concerned about the project announced.” He added that this “has not been submitted or socialized in the Ministry of Defense and the Joint Chiefs.”
General Barreiro said he was not aware of its content, for this several “steps have been carried out, so that the document is known by the institution.”
The initiative arose because the regime leader, Rafael Correa, said that military personnel grew “at an incomprehensible rate” since the signing of peace with Peru (1998) and in order to reduce the military personnel the regime plans to move some of its members to other public entities with equal salary, and reduce the income of applicants to military school.
