This event highlighted the collaboration to strengthen the resilience and capacity to adapt to climate change of Peasant Family Agriculture in the Andean region. He emphasized the importance of focusing strategies on the most vulnerable Andean populations.
Among the studies presented are the AFC’s Climate Risk study, developed in four Andean provinces, which provided crucial recommendations and guidelines for decision-making in the face of risk scenarios. Technical plans applied in the Water Protection Areas of Quinllunga, province of Bolívar, were also reviewed.
Inter-institutional cooperation seeks to promote policies and tools for climate adaptation of the Andean AFC, including the National Agricultural Strategy for Rural Women (ENAMR).
With a regional budget of USD 5 million, the first phase of the project has been successfully completed. Minister Fritschi confirmed a second phase that will begin in August, with a duration of three years and financing of USD 4 million for technical assistance in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. She also submitted a new proposal to the Adaptation Fund for USD 14 million, scheduled to start between the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026.

We reaffirm the commitment of the National Government to work together with determination, solidarity and hope, in order to build the New Ecuador that we deserve,” concluded Minister Fritschi.
