Ecuadorian midfielder Moisés Caicedo will wear the number 25, a number that Chelsea took out of circulation in tribute to former Italian soccer player Gianfranco Zola.

Moisés Caicedo already wears the shirt with the number 25 on his back, on August 16, 2023.
Moisés Caicedo will wear a legendary number on his back. And it is that between 1996 and 2003, the 25 was used by Gianfranco Zola, one of the best players in the history of the club.
The Italian won two FA Cups, a Community Shield, a Carling Cup, a European Super Cup and a European Cup Winners’ Cup. In total he played 312 games and scored 80 goals.
Following his retirement as a professional in 2005, Chelsea removed the number from circulation among their players, as a sign of respect and consideration for the player.

And at the same time, the Italian replied: “Thank you for your message, Moisés. I hope that (the number) brings you as much joy as he did with me. Good luck”.
