Monaco Prepares for Royal Wedding of Prince Albert II
Monaco is getting prepared to celebrate the official ceremonies and events with popular participation for the engagement of Prince Albert II with the former South African swimmer Charlene Wittstock.
Both ceremonies, a civilian on Friday July 1 and a religious one on the following day, will end five years of courtship. Those two days have been decreed as holidays in Monaco.
The official flags of Monaco and South Africa, and the official emblem of the wedding wave throughout the Principality. In an attempt to make the wedding a popular state ceremony, there have been also scheduled more than 200 animations during those two days, with street entertainment and music.
Perhaps the most striking fact is that Monaco will be witnesses of the engagement through an invitation to the buffet that will be served at night. 3,500 People will also have the possibility to attend the civil ceremony or the religious wedding day at the Palace Square, thanks to a broadcast transmition in eight giant screens, two of which will be placed on the Palace Square, one in front of the cathedral, and three more in the spring Alberto I.
For those who want to have a souvenir there is an elegant catalog of items ranging in prices that go from two euros for commemorative coins and 480 euros for a pendant with the engagement emblem: the initials of Albert and Charlene, intertwined in a crown. (FO)
