Moreno says he will not hesitate to consult the people

President Lenin Moreno said Monday in Quito that truth, justice, and democracy are the principles of his administration and that before giving up for interests opposed to those of the majority, he would prefer “to resort to the people so that they mark the way.” “The greatest respect for democracy, the best tribute to the popular will, is the possibility of resorting to the people, as often as necessary, so that people express their views on their future and their institutions.”

The president confirmed that one of his political postulates is the strengthening of democracy, as an essential element for the achievement of a welfare state for the people. Hence, he rejected the possibility of a change in the roadmap raised for the 2017- 2021 period: “Let no one have the slightest doubt that we will continue on the path of the profound transformation of the country.” (I)
