Mother will Donate Womb to Daughter
The history of transplants began in 1954, after Dr. Joseph Murray performed a renal kidney transplant on identical twins. This was the first successful organ transplant ever, now doctors have successfully transplanted hearts, lungs, hands, livers, ovaries, etc.
The latest exciting story about transplants comes from Sweden, when Eva Ottosson, 56, decided that her daughter, Sara, should have the chance to become a biological mother. Sara, 25, was born without a uterus, now Eva will have her womb transplanted to her daughter, this will make Eva the first person in the world to do this.
Doctors in Sweden are planning the upcoming procedure and they expect to perform it in the next spring. If the operation is successful Sara will carry her child in the same womb were she herself grew in.
