The assessment carried out by the zonal Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (Housing Ministry) of Esmeraldas determined that there are at least 1,300 houses with structural damage after the earthquake of April 16 across the province, and these have aggravated after the aftershocks of last Wednesday.
Bayardo Ramirez, zonal coordinator of the Housing Ministry announced yesterday that the province will be part of the phase of housing reconstruction and the affected families will receive a bonus of $ 10,000 to rebuild their houses. Only a 10% of these loans will have to be paid in a long-term.
